Sally Watson

Social Care Training Consultant, Independent Best Interests Assessor and Specialist Social Work Consultant

Career Synopsis

Sally qualified as a social worker in 1994 and worked with Adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, older adults and people with dementia illnesses. In 2005 she made the decision to become an Independent Social Work Consultant and Social Care Training Consultant, specialising in facilitating the delivery of adult safeguarding courses on a multi-professional/agency level to local authority/private/voluntary sector staff. Sally welcomed the advent of the MCA 2005 as a tool to better support the rights of those with and without the capacity to make decisions and has specialised in this knowledge, gaining the Best Interests Assessors qualification in order to work personally within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards legislation. Sally works regularly as an Independent BIA and also in an advisory position regarding adult safeguarding for local authorities and chairing Best Interests meetings.

Special Skills and Interests

  • Specialist skills in training Adult Safeguarding, MCA 2005/DoLS at all levels
  • Senior Social Work and Management skills ( including independent mental capacity assessments and independent chair for safeguarding adults and best interests meetings)
  • Qualified Independent BIA available nationally (Audits also undertaken)
  • Excellent communication/organisational/leadership/mediation skills

Values

Sally’s training style is lively and passionate due to her belief in what she teaches. This has a motivational effect on attendees and her aim is always to arm learners with the tools to make a positive difference in their working world. She continues to practice as an independent senior practitioner/manager with adults and is responsible for keeping herself up to date with the ever changing world of social care. Her working style and good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate clearly, and build effective relationships, enables her to work across professional boundaries with natural ease.

Caroline Vost

Position: Training Consultant

Independent Training Consultant: BA (Hons) (First Class) Post-Compulsory Education & Training.

Career Synopsis

  • Caroline has nearly 30 years law enforcement experience that has included quality operational investigative practice. Her career has taken to her to a variety of investigative roles, specifically within the safeguarding children arena where she has benefited from background practice in dealing with vulnerable adult abuse and domestic abuse. She currently holds the post of Chair of Wiltshire Local Safeguarding Children’s Board Training Sub Group.

She promotes  professionalism, integrity and high standards, ensuring her practice knowledge is current through advancing changes in safeguarding legislation and guidance.
